GRONG GRONG EARTH PARK

Public BBQ

Grong Grong Earth Park presents a tale of two halves in this tiny NSW railway town. The original campground has clearly seen better days - overgrown, dusty, and abandoned to the elements like a forgotten corner of the outback. But don't despair just yet. Cross the road and you'll discover the real gem: a beautifully maintained park courtesy of the local Rotary, complete with emerald grass that seems almost miraculous in this dusty landscape, spotless toilets, and a hot shower that feels like pure luxury after hours on the road. The barbecue facilities are perfectly serviceable, though you'll need to park roadside - a small price for such well-kept amenities. The railway pub beckons from across the tracks, offering cold beer and friendly service, though the area behind lacks shade and charm. What strikes you most is this community's determination to transform a lonely rail siding into something special, complete with fruit trees, a library, and even a pizza oven - ambitious touches that speak to local pride, even if maintenance has become patchy.
